Beer-Talk: Windows Passwordless
This Beer-Talk is held in English. It is divided in a technical presentation of about 45 minutes. The participation is free but a registration is required.
Topic
Weak passwords are a main target for attackers, especially in an internal Windows domain context.
Microsoft provides additional protection for domain passwords with its Windows Hello solution, which allows users to login using a pin or other biometrics to their workstation. This helps to condition users not to use their domain password too often and thus should thwart domain password phishing.
Besides Windows Hello there are third party solutions, which implement passwordless login to any domain joined computer. Most products come with a mobile app, where the user can authorize a login.
Philipp Mao has taken a close look at these products and will present his findings, focusing on technical details and security problems.
