The company isec from Lucerne has been accompanying its customers on the subject of information security for over 20 years. They focus on awareness, risk analysis, baseline protection, audits and concepts and regulations
Company founder Carlos Rieder is also assistant lecturer in Information Security at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He personally attends advanced training courses on a regular basis – such as the recent Compass seminar «Internal Network and System Security»:
Why have you registered for the Compass training?
«Information security is a multifaceted, complex topic. In order for us to best advise our customers in this fast-moving area, it is essential that we also know about the latest methods and tools used by hackers. I wanted an expert to tell me how we can best protect ourselves against attacks.»
What have you learned?
«In the course I learned about and applied numerous open source tools, which identify and exploit existing vulnerabilities. I now have a better understanding of what kind of cyber attacks exist, and how attackers exploit such vulnerabilities. The methods are impressive.
Once again I became aware that in large evolved networks you almost always find some open doors that can be exploited. With the freely available tools shown in the course, these vulnerabilities can be found easily.
The infrastructure provided on the course - the "Hacking Lab" training platform and the Kali Linux VM containing all the used tools - as well as the handout, have proven most valuable.
The two course instructors, Alex and Emanuel, supported us attendees with a great deal of expertise, giving us in-depth answers to all of our questions.»
Résumé
«My expectations of the course were met. Thanks to the Kali Linux VM I was able to apply what I had learned right after the course. I have already used the first tools to run a vulnerability check on my own network.
The in-depth understanding of cyber attacks gained in the course allows me to provide my customers with even better advice than before. I am able to incorporate the new knowledge into the risk analysis and audits at the customers’ premises.
I in particular recommend this course to every network and system administrator. You will learn to check your infrastructure for vulnerabilities and protect it from real attacks according to current standards and best practices.»
